Connection Information

You need register an account here on the website if you want to join our grid. You will also need to enter the name of at least one grid sponsor who must be either an existing member of the grid or someone we know well in Second Life, in good standing, who will vouch for you. if you do not have a vouch you must join our Discord and speak with an admin.
Adults Only
Even though this community and virtual grid is called "Youth Nation," you must be at least 18-years-old to join and participate.

How do I connect?

You need a viewer to connect to this grid, see below for a table of recommended viewers. We recommend that you connect to Youth Nation with a viewer that has a grid selector. Most viewers have a grid selector which in many cases is already visible, and located at the bottom of the login screen. If it is not visible, try pressing Ctrl-Shift-G to (un)hide the grid selector.

If Youth Nation is present in the list

Simply choose Youth Nation from the drop down grid selector menu. The Youth Nation splash screen should appear in the main window, with some stats about current users online.

Recall the information you created when creating your account:
  • Enter the First Name and Last Name you used as your username.
  • Use the password that you chose during registration. For new users, and for most others, your grid password is the same as the password you use to log in to this website.
Click "Log In," and you should be good to go!

If Youth Nation is missing in the list

You will need to add our grid manually, and should only have to do this once:
  1. Find the grid manager. Usually, this can be found in the preferences of your viewer in a tab called "Grids."
  2. Add a grid to the configuration with the following information:
    1. Grid Name (or alike) - Use a name you'll use to identify our grid. OpenSimulator grids don't use this field, so name it anything you like.
    2. Login URI - This is most important. Use
  3. Click on a button called "Get Grid Info" (or similar). Your viewer might complete some blank fields.
  4. Click "apply" or "ok" to complete the process. Then, log in as explained on the left.

Known Issues

Sometimes things don't go right, but hopefully we have a solution:
  • Clicking "Get Grid Info" causes an error message, or rarely, freezes the viewer!
Try leaving everything but "Grid Name" and "Login URI" blank in your viewer's grid manager. Leaving these empty will normally not cause problems, and you will still be able to log in to Youth Nation. Sometimes certain features may be unavailable until the missing info is added.

  • I am unable to connect!
Double-check that you have typed in the Login URI correctly in the grid manager. If you are still getting an error or are timing out, check the Grid Status on the left. You can also check the #our-grid-status channel on the Discord server for updates about maintenance or server issues.
If there isn't an apparent outage and you have typed the Login URI in correctly, then you may have not been approved yet. Refer to information in the #waiting-approval channel on our Discord server.
